David Goddard Sr of Tewksbury, MA, formerly of Woburn MA, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2023, with his beloved family by his side.
He was born and raised in Somerville MA to Lester and Elsie (Lincoln) Goddard, February 1, 1938.
He was married to his beloved Linda (Gates) for 51 years before her passing in 2011. Together they raised 4 children; Lynn Sakey, and her husband Lou, Lori Prekop and her husband Mark, Lisa Smith and her husband George, David Goddard Jr and his wife Carla. A Doting grandfather to Melissa Mazzarella, Stephen Cecere, Michael Prekop, Matthew Prekop, Nicole Hudson, Keri Horne, Nicole Hayes, Christine Andersen, David Goddard III. Loving great Grampy to Molly, Rylee, Aubrey, Joshua, Honor Rose, Maddie, Maycie, Annabella, Layla and Julian. Loving Uncle to Laura, AJ, Sarah Nielsen, Ken Caruso, Teri Dykstra Hernandez.
Dave worked at Tufts University Dining services for 40 years, starting out as a cook and moving up the ranks into management. As a purchasing manager, he developed menus, procured and maintained an inventory for the preparation of meals for students and faculty. He was especially proud to learn and be a part of moving dining services into the future with the addition of computers.
In 1967, he moved his family of 6 from Somerville MA to Woburn MA. There David established himself as the neighborhood Mr. Fixit, offering his skills to anyone in need. He enjoyed, history, cooking for his family and neighborhood gatherings. He enjoyed home construction projects, playing tennis, playing cribbage, and listening to Johnny Cash. In his earlier years, he was an active member of the Towanda Club managing the function hall, cooking for special events, and Treasurer. He enjoyed his adventures throughout the country traveling in the RV with family. After retirement, Dave and his wife continued traveling. They especially enjoyed their trips to Boothbay and the southern coast of Maine. Most of all, his passion was to care for his family hoping to make life easier for the next generation(s).
A Visiting hour will be held Sunday, December 17, 2023 from 2 -3pm, with a prayer service to follow at Gately Funeral Home, 79 West Foster St., Melrose MA.
