IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Muriel Stiles
Ellis
May 1, 1927 – September 3, 2025
Muriel Stiles Ellis of Wakefield was reunited with her beloved husband, Larry, on September 3, 2025, at the age of 98. She passed peacefully with her daughter Sharon and her cherished grandchildren Sean, Keri, and Jimmy by her side.
Born in Medford to Arthur and Hazel Stiles, Muriel grew up surrounded by love and family. After graduating from Reading High School, she pursued her passion for the arts at the New England School of Art. On April 17, 1949, she married her true love, Larry, beginning 67 years of devotion, laughter, and partnership. Together they built a beautiful family and a legacy rooted in love.
Muriel was the incredible mother of Sharon, Larry, Janet, and Nancy. She was a cherished "Mom," "Gram," and "Gigi," proud of her 10 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Her heart and home were always open, filled with warmth, laughter, and the aroma of her home cooking.
She was more than a stay-at-home mom—Muriel was a woman of endless creativity and skill. She loved sewing, knitting, crocheting, needlepoint, and crossword puzzles, and she poured her talents into everything she did. She also gave generously of her time, becoming involved in the Eastern Star and serving as a Girl Scout leader. Once her children were grown, she continued her dedication to caring for others as Director of the E.E. Boit Home.
Muriel is survived by her sister, Priscilla Poehler, and was predeceased by her sister Ruth Cutcliffe and her brother Arthur Stiles.
To honor Muriel's memory, contributions may be made to the Epilepsy Foundation in recognition of her great-granddaughters.
Her family takes comfort in knowing that Muriel is now reunited with Larry, her one and only, and that their love story continues beyond this life.
