Ronald F. "Ronnie" Squires, of Hollywood, FL, formerly of Melrose, died at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading on Oct. 15, 2016 at the age of 74. Ronnie was born in Boston, raised in Cambridge & Somerville and attended Somerville Schools. He resided in Melrose for 26 years and the past 15 years in Florida. Ronnie worked as a Security Guard for Textron in Everett for over 20 years before his retirement at the age of 62. He enjoyed traveling to Mexico, Hawaii, Cape Cod, Mt Washington, NH and California. Ronnie was kind, respectful, very independent and devoted to his mother, sibling's and family. Ronnie was the devoted son of the late Albert J. & Catherine A. (Dooley) Squires. Caring brother of Helen T. Harris & her late husband William of Stoneham, Sheila LaRocque & her husband Richard, Laurence S. Squires & his wife Kathy, all of Peabody and the late Albert J. Squires, William J. Squires and James P. Squires. Godfather of Michelle Connolly & her husband Christopher of Peabody. Also survived by many nieces & nephews. Visiting hours will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Tuesday, Oct. 18th from 4:00-7:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at the Gately Funeral Home on Wednesday, Oct. 19th at 12:00 PM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Ronnie's memory to the charity of your choice.
