Peabody

Obituary

Agnes Fiascone of Peabody, formerly a long-time resident of Melrose, passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2026. Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Arnold Fiascone, Agnes is survived by her five children: John Fiascone and his wife Lisa, Stephen Fiascone and his wife Julie, Marie Gerardo and her husband Ed, Eileen Sunseri and her husband Steve, and Jim Fiascone and his wife Kelly. She also leaves behind 12 grandchildren and 6 (soon to be 7!) great-grandchildren.

Agnes was a loving and devoted wife and mother who not only raised five children, she was an excellent cook, baker, and hostess. Holidays and special occasions were marked by outstanding meals and company. (Really, every day was marked by outstanding meals.) Her always-ready Irish wit was at its best at a large table of family and friends, and her keen sense of humor kept everyone laughing. She was an expert and accomplished knitter all her life; her family and lucky friends were the happy recipients of beautiful knitwear, afghans and more. Her grandchildren routinely received much-admired hats, mittens, sweaters, and blankets. These items are in use now with her great-grandchildren.

She was also involved with her community. She was a long-time volunteer for Meals On Wheels, she was a hospice respite-care volunteer, and she visited nursing home residents who did not have regular visitors. Agnes’s motto was expressed in a needlepoint hanging she created and kept in the kitchen: “To whom much has been given, much shall be expected.”

Agnes fought the good fight, she finished the race, she kept the faith.
