Agnes I. "Aggie" (Mahoney) Meehan passed away at the Masconomet Healthcare Facility in Topsfield on March 22, 2014. She was 85 years of age. Mrs. Meehan was born in Chelsea on July 19, 1928 to the late Joseph and Mary (Lynn) Mahoney. She was raised in Chelsea, graduated from Mt. St. Joseph Academy and then from Chelsea Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. Aggie was a proud and dedicated registered nurse for over sixty years. Mrs. Meehan started out working as a supervisor in the obstetrics department at Chelsea Memorial Hospital for several years and then worked as a charge nurse at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital for 25 years. Aggie enjoyed working and loved spending time with her family, especially on York Beach in York Maine. She was an amazing cook and had a wonderful sense of humor. Agnes was the beloved wife of 62 years to Albert E. "Al" Meehan. Loving mother of Thomas K. Meehan & his wife Lisa of Duxbury, Mary-Lynn Lawless & her fiancé Dave Harrell of Rowley, Robert J. Meehan of Gloucester, Susanne L. Meehan of VA and Jennifer A. Will & her husband Jack of Franklin. Proud grandmother of Timothy, Meghan, Thomas, Courtney, Amy, Katelyn, Kevin, Sean, Andrew, Connor & Dennis. Cherished great grandmother of Grey, Benjamin, Charlotte, Ryan, Stella Rose, William & Tony "LT". Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Friday, March 28th at 8AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St. Wakefield at 9AM. Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Thursday from 4:00-8:00PM. Burial will be private.
