Obituary

Agnes E. (Hannegan) Sanford died on Cape Cod April 23rd after a long battle with cancer at the age of 88. Agnes was born and raised in Melrose, graduated from Melrose High School and Chandler Secretarial School in Boston. Agnes worked as a medical assistant for Dr. John J. McNulty in Wakefield for many years before moving to Yarmouth Port in 1983. Mrs Sanford was a member of St. Pius X Guild, the Yarmouth Senior Center and was a former member of Incarnation Church in Melrose. Agnes enjoyed playing bridge and loved to travel. She was the wife of the late Laurence F. Sanford. Mother of Laurence & Marilyn Sanford of Tewksbury, Barbara & Larry Fitzpatrick of Yarmouth Port with whom she lived, Annette & Patrick Marshall of Hudson NH, Janet & Douglas Kelliher of Nashua NH and John & Cathy Sanford of Melrose. Also survived by 10 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, many loving nieces, nephews, dear friend Susanne Kaye and numerous caring, kind friends. Visiting hours will be held on Wed. April 25th from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at Hallett's Funeral Home, Station Ave, South Yarmouth and on Thursday morning from 9:00 - 10:30 AM at the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thurs April 26th in the Church of the Incarnation 429 Upham St. Melrose at 11:00 AM. Followed by a burial in Wyoming Cemetery Melrose. In lieu of flowers please send memorial donations to Hospice & Palliative Care of Cape Cod 923 Route 6A Yarmouth Port 02675.
