Alan T. Smyth passed away suddenly, on Saturday, March 8, 2008; he was 28 years old. Alan was born in Malden, raised in Wakefield and graduated from Wakefield High School, Class of 1997. He played football for Wakefield High and was captain of the wrestling team. Alan worked as a conductor for the last 10 years for the Mass Bay Commuter Rail (MBCR) and was a member of the United Transportation Union. Mr. Smyth was a lifelong resident of Wakefield, enjoyed playing hockey, water sports, snowmobiling, fishing, watching movies and was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. Alan liked his trips to Maine, his motorcycle rides with his dad and his beloved dog Sampson. He was the beloved son of Alan T. & Christine (Smith) Smyth. Loving brother of Laura C. Weymouth & her husband Dana of Hollis, ME and Jacqueline C. Smyth of Wakefield. Adored fiance of Amy E. Milton of Westford. Cherished grandson of George & Marguerite Smyth of Wilmington, Ruth Smith of Medford & the late Howard Smith. Beloved nephew of Ellen & Jimmy Stanton of Melrose. Also survived by numerous other aunts, uncles & cousins. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Friday, March 14th at 9AM. Funeral Mass in The Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St. Wakefield, at 10AM. Relatives & friends invited. Visiting hours Thurs. 4-8PM. Interment will be private.
