Albert W. Brown Sr. passed away suddenly in Florida on Tuesday, February 2, 2011, at the age of 63. Albie was born in Winchester on May 16, 1947 to the late Wesley & Ellen (Chandler) Brown. He was raised in Melrose, graduated from Melrose High School and Northeastern University. A lifelong resident of Melrose, Mr. Brown started working for his father's company, Metropolitan Pipe & Supply in Cambridge, as a young teenager, was the CEO and had been employed there for over 45 years. Albie loved spending time with his family at their summer cottage on Sunapee Lake in NH, where he enjoyed boating, swimming and numerous family gatherings. Mr. Brown was a longtime member of Bellevue Golf Club in Melrose, a member of the New England Wholesalers Association and was involved with the Churchill American Little League in Melrose for many years. He enjoyed wintering in Ft. Myers the past 5 years and was a member of Most Blessed Sacrament Church in Greenwood. Albie was the beloved husband of Elizabeth W. (Williams) Brown. Loving father of Kevin Brown and his wife Linda and Timothy Brown all of Melrose and the late Albert W. Brown Jr. Devoted grandfather of Joshua, Tyler, Alex, Tim, Caroline & Brooke Brown. Cherished brother of Austin Brown & his wife Martha of Saugus and Elizabeth Brown Ambeliotis & her husband Nick of Wenham. Loving son-in-law of Helen Williams of Melrose. Also survived by several nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Tuesday, February 8th at 9AM. A Funeral Mass in celebration of Albie's life will be held at Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St. Wakefield at 10AM. Relatives & friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours Monday from 4:00-8:00PM. Interment in Wyoming Cemetery will be private.
