Albert J. Meehan passed away suddenly, at St. Elizabeths Hospital in Boston, on August 24th, at the age of 80. Albert was born in Melrose, raised in Malden, attended Malden High School, graduated from Tilton Academy in Tilton, NH, and has been a resident of Melrose for over 50 years. Mr. Meehan served in the US Army during WWII, as a Military Policeman in Europe & Asia. Al worked as a metallurgical technician at Nuclear Metals in Concord for 20 years and then in elevator repair for City Elevator of Melrose for 15 years. He was a member of St. Marys Church in Melrose, the VFW Post #639 in Malden and a current member of the Saugus VFW Post #2346. He was the son of the late Francis J. & Jesse (Finn) Meehan. Brother of the late Francis Sonny Meehan. Uncle of Janet Nolan of Marblehead, Barbara Courtney of Boxford & Nancy Meehan of Salisbury Beach. Also survived by 4 grand nephews & 1 grand niece. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Monday August 29th, at 8AM. Funeral Mass in St. Marys Church, Herbert St. Melrose, at 9AM. Relatives & friends invited.
