Albert J. Ricciardelli, of San Diego, California, formerly of Melrose, Massachusetts, and East Boston, Massachusetts, died surrounded by loving family in San Diego on October 2, 2012 at the age of 81. Al was born in East Boston and graduated from Boston English in 1949. He was honorably discharged from the United States Navy in 1955 and spent most of his career in the plumbing and construction industry. He was the owner and founder of AlRic Plumbing and Heating and built and remodeled homes throughout eastern Massachusetts. He spent the final portion of his career as the Building Inspector for the City of Melrose until his retirement in 1995. His wife, children and grandchildren were the greatest joy of his life. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events, visiting Las Vegas with his cousin Eugene Ricciardelli, gardening, Italian music, painting, golf and exploring technical innovations such as solar energy. He was the Beloved husband of the late Ruth M. (Bernard) Ricciardelli, the Loving father of Albert J. Jr. & his wife Sue of Medfield, the late Carol A., James & his wife Donna of Cherry Hills Village, Colorado, Brenda A. Leary & her husband John of Lynnfield, Thomas E. & his wife Linda of Hingham, David J. of Henderson, Nevada and John R. & his wife Lindsey of San Diego, California, and the Cherished grandfather of Albert III, Joseph, Daniel, Jillian, Kaley, Lindsay, Andrew, Clark and James. He was the Caring brother of the late Angelo Ricciardelli & his late wife Camille, the late Joseph Ricciardelli & his late wife Edith, Marguerite Belgiorno & her husband Al of Revere, the late Alfred Ricciardelli & his late wife Marie, the late Anthony Ricciardelli & his wife Alma of Melrose and Robert Ricciardelli & his wife Alice of Melrose. Loving cousin, uncle and friend to many others. A funeral service will be held at the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Saturday Oct. 13th at 11AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours prior to the service from 9-11AM. Burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
