Alberta E. (Marroni) Bage, of Winthrop, died at the Bear Hill Nursing Center in Wakefield on March 30, 2014 at the age of 101. Alberta was born in Haverhill, raised in East Boston and attended East Boston schools. She resided in East Boston for many years, Everett for 6 years and over 20 years in Winthrop. Alberta was a homemaker and also worked as a Stitcher for over 20 years in Boston. She was a member of St. John's Church & the Senior Center in Winthrop and loved to play bingo. Alberta enjoyed taking trips to see plays in Boston & New York and going to lunch with her lifelong girlfriends named "The Golden Girls". She loved to spend 6 weeks every winter with her husband in Sarasota, Florida and spending her time cooking for her large family & friends. Alberta was the beloved wife of the late Joseph V. Bage for 41 years. Loving mother of Frances D. McGee & her late husband Robert of Lynnfield and Joseph A. Bage of FL. Former mother in law of Theresa Bage of N. Reading. Cherished grandmother of Robert McGee & his wife Phyllis of Lynnfield, Joseph McGee & his wife Carey of NY, Joseph Bage & his wife Lisa of FL, Kristina Metrano & her husband Keith of Reading, Elisa Bage-Hoff & her husband Greg of N. Reading and the late Linda McGee. Devoted great grandmother of Jodi & Jennifer Bage, Ariana, Alexa & Erika Metrano, Ashley & Aaron Bage-Hoff, Jessica and Victoria, Caroline & Christian McGee. Caring sister of Alfred Marroni & his late wife Eva, Arnold Marroni & his wife Rita and the late Ernest & Jerry Marroni and Alice Capezza. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Thursday, April 3rd at 8:45AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in the Church of the Incarnation, 425 Upham St., Melrose at 10AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours in the funeral home prior to the mass from 8:45-9:30AM. Burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
