Obituary

Alfonso (Al) Lucci, of Peabody, formerly of Melrose and then Reading passed away peacefully surrounded by his entire family in the comfort of his own home on December 21, 2021, at the age of 85. Al was the beloved husband of 53 years to the late Dianne (Alabiso) Lucci. Loving father of Lisa A. Woods & her partner Amy Campbell of NH, James A. Lucci & his wife Mary of Newburyport and Robert J. Lucci and his wife Lisa Roman-Lucci of PA. Cherished grandfather of Sean & his wife Jen, Taylor, Tristan, Amanda, Anthony, Melaina, Julia & Braden. Proud great grandfather of Amelia & Oliver. Caring brother of the late Anthony Lucci & his late wife Eleanor, the late Renzo Lucci & his wife Patricia of FL, the late Fausta Lynch & her husband Robert of Hingham and Remo Lucci & his wife Sheryl of Illinois. Caring brother-in-law of Joanne MacInnis & her late husband Donald of Middleton and the late Joseph Alabiso & his wife Judith of Melrose. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews & friends. Born in Avezzano, Italy, Al immigrated to the U.S. on the SS Conte di Savoia in 1939. He excelled in three sports graduating from Melrose High School. After spending time at Boston College, he left early to pursue a career. A conversation at the Melrose Elks Lodge, a frequent destination for Al, led him to Business Copy Associates (BCA) where he spent most of his career. Initially a salesperson, Al's time and success at BCA culminated in him owning and retiring from that business. Al and Dianne built a life together having three children, Lisa, Jim and Bob. The family moved to Reading and eventually purchased a second home in Highland Beach, FL where they spent winters, graciously hosting their kids' families and many, many friends. While back in MA, they enjoyed a retirement full of family gatherings and regular trips to Foxwoods, along with their routine visit to their favorite North Shore restaurants. Al has left a lasting impression on countless people with his wit, generosity, and positive approach to life. He loved his family dearly and was a tremendous husband, father, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather and wonderful friend to many. Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W.
