Rev. Monsignor Alfonso G. Palladino Boston Archdiocese Priest for 72 Years Rev. Monsignor Alfonso G. Palladino, 96, died peacefully on March 3, 2015, in Boston, MA at Regina Cleri Residence for retired priests. He was born on April 8, 1918 in Boston, MA, the son of the late Frank P. Palladino and Anastasia (Maglio) Palladino. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his two brothers, James T. Palladino and William V. Palladino. After attending Boston College for two years, he enrolled at St. John's Seminary and following completion of seminary studies, he was ordained by Archbishop Richard J. Cushing at Holy Cross Cathedral on January 6, 1943. His first assignment as a priest was to St. Mary's parish in Plymouth, MA. His next assignment was to St. Anthony's parish in Revere, MA. He attended the North American College in Rome from 1951 to 1953, where he received his Doctorate in Sacred Divinity. From 1954 to 1968 he was a member of the teaching staff at St. John's Seminary in Brighton, where he taught courses in Theology. He received the honorarium title of Monsignor in 1967. He was assigned to St. Mary's of the Annunciation parish in Melrose, MA in 1969 and served there until his retirement in 1983. He was granted pastor emeritus status at St. Mary's and lived there until 2010. During the winter months he resided in Clearwater, FL and assisted the local parishes in the Clearwater area. Monsignor Palladino is survived by many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. There will be a viewing and ceremony at Regina Cleri on Friday, March 6th from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. The funeral mass will take place on Saturday, March 7th at St. Mary's of the Annunciation Church in Melrose at 11:00 a.m. with a public viewing at the church prior to the mass. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Mary's School would be appreciated.
