Alfred Boukharov, of Melrose, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2021, at the age of 86.
Alfred was born in Russia and spent most of his professional life as a mechanical engineer designing machines for iron ore mining in Ukraine.
In 2011 he and his wife Olga moved to the United States to reunite with the family of his elder son Andrey. Alfred loved New England's natural beauty and took great pleasure in his long meditative walks through the Fells Reservation, delighting his wife with foraged mushrooms, and bringing home the day's catch from one of the many nearby lakes.
Alfred leaves behind his beloved wife of 61 years, Olga. He was the loving father of two sons, Andrey (Natalia) and Vladimir (Olga). He was the cherished and doting grandpa to Irina, Sergey, Katherine, and Kristina.
Visitation will be held at Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster Street in Melrose on Wednesday, November 3 from 10 am to 12 pm, welcoming family and friends. It will be followed by the funeral and interment service at Wyoming Cemetery, 205 Sylvan Street, Melrose at 12:15 pm.
