Obituary

Alfred C. Corona passed away at his home in Melrose on August 6, 2007, he was 62. Al was the son of the late Adolph & Lena (Giannelli) Corona, born in Paterson NJ on August 5, 1945. He was raised in Paterson, graduated from East Side High School, Emerson College in 1966 with a B.A. in Theatre & Speech and in 1972 with a M.S. in Theatre Education. Mr. Corona worked as an Assistant Professor in Acting, Directing & Theatre History at Emerson College for 6 years and as an instructor in acting for Montclair School for Performing Arts in NJ, The Boston Conservatory of Music, The Fairbanks Arts Festival in Alaska, Keene State College in NH and the Childrens Performing Arts Center in Keene, NH. During the summer Al was involved in many summer theatre productions at the Falmouth PlayHouse, Keene Summer Theatre, The Barnstormers in Tamworth, NH. Mr. Corona was also involved in many productions at the Charles Playhouse in Boston, The American Premiere Stage & Celebrating Broadway in Cambridge and American Theatre in Cumbria, Lake District Tour in England. Some of the productions he was involved with were; Oklahoma, Man of La Mancha, The King & I, Camelot, The Sound of Music, A Christmas Carol and The Family of Man to name a few. Al also worked as a special event coordinator for Crannell Consulting, The American Academy of Arts & Sciences and he designed and organized cultural tours including Theatre, Concerts, Dance, Opera and Art Exhibitions for Gray Line & Fresh Pond Travel in Massachusetts. In the last 5 years Al has endeared himself to the staff and students at Melrose High School. He worked as a high school aid director, mentor and enjoyed working with the students producing many theatre productions at the school. He will be missed by all that knew him. Cousin of Thomas, Bugliare, Kathy Bugliare, Andrew, Charles, John, Billy, Bobby Giannelli and Al Aversa. He was the close friend of Ken & Pat Crannell of Saugus. Also survived by many close colleagues, friends & students. A memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2007 at 9AM in St. Mary's Church Herbert St. Melrose, MA all are welcome. A Month's Mind Service will be held in his memory at Blessed Sacrament Church, Paterson, NJ on Sunday, Sept. 16th at 10AM. Donation's in his memory may be made to Most Blessed Sacarament Church, Paterson, NJ. Please fell free to sign the guest book or share a story about AL.
