Alfred L 'Al'Foley died at home Sunday morning on Nov. 16th after a lengthy illness at the age of 70. He was born and raised in Wakefield, attended Wakefield High School and was a longtime resident. Al entered the Army in 1953 and served in Germany. He was a patrolman on the Wakefield Police Dept from 1958 to 1966 when he joined the MDC Police until 1980. Al was a resident of Melrose for the past 33 yrs, a member of the Harold O. Young Post #2394 and a parishioner of St Patrick Church in Stoneham. He was the husband of Patricia H. ( Lucey ) Foley. Father of Patricia Ray & her husband Bob of Westminster, Michele Desmond & her husband David of Stoneham, John Foley & his wife Carol of Medford, Maureen Bhatti & her husband Altaf of Wilmington, Kathleen Samayoa & her husband Nixon of Peabodyand Coleen Auterio & her husband Michael of Methuen. Brother of Mary LaPore of Billerica, Shirley Foley of Andover, Edward Foley of FL and the lateEdgar, Philip and James Foley. Also survived by 14 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W Foster St Melrose on Wed Nov 19 at 9 AM. Funeral Mass in St Patrick Church, 71 Central St, Stoneham at 10 AM. Visiting hours Tues 4 to 8 PM.
