Obituary

Alice E. (Finn) Cann passed away at Woodbriar Nursing Center in Wilmington, on October 27,2006, she was 91. Alice was born in Boston, raised in Charlestown and graduated from Charlestown High School, Class of 1932. Mrs. Cann has been a resident of Melrose for over 55 years. She worked as a secretary to the principal of Melrose High School for over 25 years and was in charge of sending out all the college applications for the students. She was a longtime member of St. Mary's Church & the ladies sodality at church. Alice was the wife of the late George Cann Sr. Mother of Janet Sibley & her husband Richard of AZ, Robert Cann & his wife Jane of Stoneham, George G. Cann & his wife Sue of Melrose and the late Jean Avery & her husband James of CA. Sister of Robert Finn of Saugus. Also survived by 7 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and many nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Tues. Oct. 31st at 8AM. Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, Herbert St. Melrose, at 9AM. Relatives & friends invited. Visiting hours Monday 4-8PM. Interment in Wyoming Cemetery Melrose. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Alice's name to Alzheimer's Assoc., 311 Arsenal St. Watertown 02472.
