Alice D. (Dorn) Flynn, of Peabody & Ft Lauderdale, FL, formerly of Melrose, died at the Hunt Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Danvers on Jan. 2, 2016 at the age of 89. Alice was born in Malden, raised in Melrose, a graduate of Melrose High School, Class of 1944 and The Chandler School in Boston. She worked for the Malden Trust Company in Malden, drove for Meals on Wheels and was also the owner of Dorn Equipment Corporation in Melrose for many years. Alice was an avid gardener and very active with the Malden Hospital Junior Aid for many years. She enjoyed golfing & traveling to Bermuda, Portugal, Ireland and many of the islands. Her grandchildren & family was the most important part of her life. She was the beloved wife of the late John W. "Jack" Flynn for 62 years. Loving mother of Stephen Flynn of Salem, Matthew J. Flynn & his wife Virginia of Wakefield, Elizabeth Browne & her husband Stephen of Georgetown, Deirdre Petricone & her husband Joseph of New Hartford, CT and the late John W. Flynn, Jr. Cherished grandmother of Shelagh & Bryan Browne, John, Ian & Elizabeth "Katie" Marie Flynn and Cecilia & Daniel Petricone. Caring sister of Phyllis Wilson of New Mexico and the late Philip H. Dorn, Jr. and James Dorn. Also survived by several nieces & nephews. Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Wednesday Jan. 6th from 10-11:30 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in the Church of the Incarnation, 425 Upham St., Melrose at 12:00PM.
