Alighiero A."Al" Zaino, of Melrose, died at his home surrounded by family on October 19, 2008 at the age of 90. Al was born & raised in Everett and a graduate of Everett High School, Class of 1936. He worked as a Foreman for the Sexton Can Company, formerly of Everett for 45 years. Al resided in Melrose since 1958 and a member St. Mary's Church in Melrose and Carmen Schiavo Italian Club in Everett for many years. Al was a "Jack of all trades" and could fix anything & enjoyed working in his yard. He was a former member of the Melrose Bowling League and loved to spend time with his grandchildren & family. Al was the beloved husband for 65 years of Rose (Signoriello) Zaino. Loving father of Irene Watkins & her late husband James of CT and Paul Zaino & his wife Eileen of Melrose. Cherished grandfather of Kellie, Liza, Kevin and Christopher. Devoted great grandfather of 6 great grandchildren. Caring brother of Carmella Pastore, Anna Zaino, Robert Zaino, Jeannette DeMare, Eleanor Zaino and Henry Zaino, all of Everett, Richard Zaino of MS and the late Fred Zaino. Also survived by many nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Thursday Oct. 23nd at 8 AM. Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, Herbert St., Melrose at 9AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours on Wednesday from 4-8PM. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
