Allen F. Matheson,68, died at Life Care Center Stoneham after a lengthy illness. Born in Boston, he was raised in Somerville, graduated from Somerville High School and Western New England College with a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice. He served on the Somerville Police Deparment and retired as a Sgt in 1993. Allen worked at U-Haul Somerville after retiring from the police dept. until his illness. He was a former member of the Board of Directors at the Somerville Municipal Federal Credit Union. Allen was the husband of Earlene M. ( Tibbetts ) Matheson. Father of Scott A. Matheson of Melrose and Brent L. Matheson and his wife Kimberly of Waltham. Brother of the late Kenneth Matheson and step-brother of Gail Miller and Cynthia Mejia both of FL, Peggy Cochran of Holbrook, Marilyn Hardwick of RI and Gene Pina of Brockton. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held in the Gately Funeral Home 79 W Foster St Melrose on Wed Jan 23 at 10 AM. Relatives and friends invited.
