Andrew F. "Andy" Vadala, of Melrose, died at the Massachusetts General Hospital on Aug. 24, 2010 at 68 years of age. Andy was born in Boston, raised in Medford and a graduate of Medford High School, Class of 1960. He worked in Quality Control for the Polaroid Corp. for almost 30 years before retiring in 1997. After retiring from Polaroid, Andy loved working as a handyman around Melrose for many years and had many loyal clients. He resided in Medford until 1976 and the past 34 years in Melrose. Andy was a member & past president of the Band-Aiders in Melrose for many years and also a Coach for the Melrose Girls Soccer. Andy enjoyed fishing, cooking, music, theatre and hunting with his family & many friends. He loved to travel all over the world, especially to Italy with his family. Andrew was the beloved husband of Domenica M. (Auditore) Vadala for 49 years of marriage. Loving father of Franny Vadala Doran & her husband James of Tewksbury, Maria Clark-Vadala of Wakefield, Nicole Vadala of Malden and Stephanie Teixeira & her husband Steven Jr. of Malden. Cherished grandfather of Jimmy, Andrea, Laura, Samantha, Matthew, Julia & Cristina. Caring brother of Joseph Vadala & his wife Janice of Burlington, Santa Zagami & her husband Frank of Winchester, Peter Vadala of Saugus and the late Anthony Vadala & his wife Theresa of Medford. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Saturday, Aug 28th at 8:45AM.
