Ann F. "Nancy" (Bernard) Mahoney passed away at the Sawetelle Family Hospice House in Reading, Massachusetts on August 15, 2012. She was 70 years of age. Nancy was born in Everett on April 6, 1942 to the late Frederick & Elizabeth (Ferrier) Bernard. She was raised in Melrose, graduated from Melrose High School, Class of 1960 and attended Melrose-Wakefield Hospital School of Nursing. Mrs. Mahoney was a lifelong Melrose resident who enjoyed summering in South Yarmouth for over 30 years and spending time on Estero Island, Florida in the winter, walking the beach and searching for sand dollars. Nancy worked in the food service program for the City of Melrose school system for many years and was the food director for several years. She enjoyed crafts, ceramics, and painting and loved to bake & garden. Nancy also loved animals. Mrs. Mahoney was the beloved mother of Julie A. Clifford and her late husband Kevin of Reading, William C. Mahoney, Jr. of Melrose, Tracey L. Albrecht and Sean F. Mahoney & his wife Gail all of Haverhill. Devoted grandmother of Brendan Clifford, Colby Clifford & Kyle Clifford, Trevor Albrecht, Corey Albrecht & his wife Sarah, Megan Albrecht and Joshua Mahoney. Loving sister of Janet Bernard Ray of NV, Frederick "Buddy" Bernard & his wife Linda of FL, the late Elizabeth Carey and the late Andrew Bernard & his wife Colleen of Lynn. Former wife of William C. Mahoney Sr. of Medford. Also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins & friends. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Saturday, August 18th at 9AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St. Wakefield, at 10AM. Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Friday from 4:00-8:00PM. Interment at Puritan Lawn Cemetery in Peabody.
