Ann Marie (Ahearn) Murphy, of Melrose, died at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading on Sept. 7, 2016 at the age of 72. Ann was born in Boston, raised in Dorchester & Charlestown and a graduate of Gate of Heaven High School in South Boston. She resided in Charlestown for many years and Melrose since 1973. Ann worked in the admitting office at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital in Melrose for 20 years before her retirement in 1990. She enjoyed music, dancing, singing and vacationing in York Beach, ME. Ann's family was the most important part of her life and she loved to spend her time with her grandchildren. She was the beloved wife of the late William H. "Billy" Murphy for 48 years. Devoted daughter of the late Frank & Margaret (McDonough) Ahearn. Loving mother of Brian F. Murphy & his wife Michelle of Weymouth, Brenda A. Kopylov & her husband Andrei of N. Reading and Steven W. Murphy & his wife Tara of Saugus. Cherished grandmother of Liam & Margaret Murphy, Sean Kopylov and Owen & Fiona Murphy. Caring sister of the late Gail F. Ahearn & Ruth M. Ahearn. Sister in law of Jane Papasodoro & her husband Walter of Saugus. Also survived by several nieces, nephews, relatives & friends. Visiting hours will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Tuesday, Sept. 13th from 4-8PM. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home on Wednesday, Sept. 14th at 8:45AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in the Church of the Incarnation, 429 Upham St., Melrose, at 10AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
