Anna M. (McGonagle) Estle, formerly of Melrose, passed away at Lahey Hospital, Burlington on August 15, 2023, at age 93. Anna was born in Charlestown and grew up in West Somerville. She graduated from St. John's High School in North Cambridge in 1947. She worked 41 years at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston and was Co-founder and long-time President of the F.R.B. Retirees Group. Anna was a devoted parishioner of St. Mary's Church and was also involved for many years with the Melrose Council on Aging. She enjoyed traveling, including trips to Ireland and winters in Florida. Her quick sense of humor and outgoing personality won her many friends.

Anna married Edwin in 1973 and they moved to Melrose in 1974. Sadly, she lost the love of her life in 1978.

Anna was the dearly beloved wife of the late Edwin. Devoted daughter of John and Annie (Doherty). Sister of the late John J. McGonagle (Arlington), Hugh E. McGonagle (Stoneham), and Edward. Cherished Aunt of John and Deborah McGonagle of Norfolk, MA, Mary McGonagle of Londonderry, NH, Edward and Bernadette McGonagle of Londonderry, NH, Cheryl Sullivan of Stoneham, and the late Maureen Martin and Michael McGonagle. Great Aunt of Kerry, Michelle and Kathryn McGonagle, Sarah Simonelli, Paul Sullivan, Scott and Eric Martin, Shawn McGonagle, and the late Kasey McGonagle. The family wishes to extend our most sincere gratitude to the staff at Youville Place, Lexington and CareOne at Lexington who cared for our beloved Anna.

Visiting hours will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, from 8:30-9:30AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church, 4 Herbert St., Melrose at 10:00AM. Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
