Anna Frances (Harkins) Gallagher died at the age of 87 at Masconomet Healthcare Center in Topsfield on August 25th after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Gallagher was born and raised in Charlestown, graduated from Cathedral High School in Boston and has lived in Melrose for over 50 years. Anna worked as a bank teller for the Federal Reserve Bank in Boston for 15 years and assisted her husband with the running of the Gallagher Oil Company of Melrose for 30 years. She was a member of St. Mary's Church in Melrose. Anna was the wife of the late John J. Gallagher. Mother of Jane M. Gorman & her husband Thomas of N. Reading, John J. Gallagher Jr. of Lynn and Barbara A. Peterson & her husband Daniel of Boxford. Grandmother of Peter R. Gorman of N.Reading, Joseph D. Gorman of NJ, Erin Merrill & her husband Douglas of Saugus, Lauren Peterson of Boxford and John Ryan Gallagher of Newburyport. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Friday Aug. 29th at 9AM. Funeral mass in St. Mary's Church, Herbert St. Melrose at 10AM. Relatives and friends invited.
