Anne P. (Connelly) Stanton passed away at home, on January 13, 2013 surrounded by her family. She was 89 years of age. Anne was born in Somerville on July 12, 1923 to the late Patrick & Mary (Meehan) Connelly. She was raised in Charlestown and Brighton, graduated from Charlestown High School, Massachusetts School of Nursing, Class of 1945, and has been a resident of Melrose since 1958. Anne worked as a registered nurse in the emergency room at Massachusetts General Hospital for 5 years and then took a leave of absence to raise her eight children. Mrs. Stanton return to her nursing career in the late 1960's working at Malden Hospital for a few years and then at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital for over 25 years, retiring in 1995. She had a strong Catholic faith, was a longtime member of St. Mary's Church in Melrose, where she was a member of St. Mary's Ladies Sodality. Anne enjoyed Broadway shows, spending time at her second home in Wareham and was a dedicated wife and mother. Mrs. Stanton was the wife of the late Martin T. Stanton. Mother of Martin Stanton & his wife Eileen, Anne Stanton, Joseph Stanton & his wife Charee all of Melrose, Catherine Stanton of Revere, Patrick Stanton & his wife Carol of Salem, NH, Christopher Stanton & his wife LouAnn of Melrose, Michael Stanton & his wife Deborah of Sandwich and Mark Stanton & his wife Donna of Melrose. Survived by her twin sister Mary T. Springer of NJ and the late Catherine Bordman, Robert J. Connelly and Father Brennan Connelly OFM. Also survived by 14 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Thursday January 17th, at 9AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church, Herbert St. Melrose, at 10AM. Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Wednesday from 4:00-8:00PM. Interment at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose.
