Anne R. (Fortier) Turner died at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital Jan. 28th at the age of 86. Anne was born in Charlestown, raised in Melrose, graduated from Melrose High School Class of 1934 where she was captain of the women's basketball and softball teams. She was a homemaker, a lifelong resident of Melrose and had worked for 10 years at Grant Printing in Melrose. Anne was a member of St. Mary's Church, a member of 'The Club' in Melrose and was a former cub scout leader. She was the wife of the late William J. Turner. Mother of Ruth A. Powers of Windham NH, Donald M. Turner of Reading, Lawrence K. Turner of PA, M. Jane Russell of Melrose, Richard J. Turner of Roslindale and the late William, Philip & Stephen Turner. Mother-in-law of David Powers, Marcia Turner, Debbie Turner, Janet Turner & Diane Turner. Sister of Loretta Dickson & John J. Fortier both of NH. Also survived by 19 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Sat. Feb. 1st at 9AM. Funeral mass in St. Mary's Church Herbert St. Melrose at 10 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Thurs. 7-9PM, Friday 2-4 & 7-9PM. Memorial contributions may be made in Anne's memory to a charity of your choice. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose.
