Anne J. (Colbert) Wentzell died at Winchester Nursing Home in Winchester MA on April 28th at the age of 90. She was born and raised in Melrose, graduated from Melrose High Class of 1931 and was voted Most Athletic Girl in her class. Anne lived in Melrose for over 61 years and lived in Atkinson NH for 24 years. She worked as a lab administrator at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital in Melrose for 25 years, retiring in 1977. Anne's deceased husband, Harold Wentzell, was a retired MDC Police Officer in Boston and a WWII Veteran. Anne was a former member of The Most Blessed Sacrament Church in Wakefield, MA, a member of Holy Angels Church in Plaistow NH for 24 years and served as a lector for the parish for many years. She loved gardening and had unconditonal passion for her beloved Red Sox Team. Anne was the wife of the late Harold A. Wentzell. Mother of Susan J. Garrant & her husband Robert of Atkinson NH, Robert C. Wentzell of Melrose and Richard K. Wentzell & his wife Karen of Charlotte NC. Sister of the late Dorothy McGinley, Edwin Colbert, Margaret Hoffman and Lucille Lambert. Grandmother of John, Chris and Robert Garrant, Joanne Fortier, Michael, Justina, Amanda, Richard, Brad and Katie Wentzell. Also survived by 7 great grandchildren and many nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Friday May 2nd, at 9AM. Funeral mass in The Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St. Wakefield at 10AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Thurs. 4-8 PM. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery Melrose.
