Obituary

Anne M. (Smole) Zorbas passed away at her home, in Melrose, on Aug. 4th, she was 89. Anne was born in Bradley Illinois, graduated from Notre Dame Convent High School, St. Viator College and Gallagher School of Business in Illinois. Mrs. Zorbas lived in Chelsea for a few years and Melrose since 1951. She was a homemaker, raised 6 children and worked full time at Transitron of Melrose, in Quality Control for many years and at Shawmut Bank in Melrose for several years. Anne was a WWII Army Veteran, serving in the WACS from 1943 to 1945. She was a member of the WACS Veterans Assoc., Most Blessed Sacrament Church in Wakefield and was chairperson at TOPS for several years. Mrs. Zorbas was the wife of the late Arthur C. Zorbas. Mother of John of Roslindale, James of Melrose, Mary Porter of N. Reading, Rosann Zorbas of Peabody, Jerry of Stoneham and the late Joseph C. Zorbas. Grandmother of George & Aviana Zorbas both of Roslindale. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Monday Aug. 8th at 9AM. Funeral Mass in The Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St. Wakefield, at 10AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Sunday 4-8PM. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose.
