Anthony
Arria
May 22, 1940 — Jun 24, 2026
Melrose
Anthony (Tony) Joseph Arria of Melrose, formally of Medford and Boston's West End, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 24 surrounded by his family at the age of 86. Anthony was the son of the late Concetto and Isabel Arria. He was the brother of Theresa Arria and her husband Peter, and the late Salvatore, Santo, Pauline, Marie, and Thomas.
He is survived by his loving wife Nell, his children Anthony, Brian and his wife Kate, Kathleen and her husband David, Michael and his wife Kristin, and Andrea. He was “Grampy” to his eight adoring grandchildren: Brian, Malin, Jack, Joshua, Joey, Nick, Lucas and Casey.
Anthony's passion was his family. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather as well as a devoted son, brother, and uncle to his many nieces and nephews. He maintained friendships with his childhood friends Leo and Junior and many other "West Enders."
Anthony made his living as a professional floor installer. He enjoyed periodic forays to the casino and placing a bet here and there. Most of all he loved spending time with family, whether at the house in New Hampshire, or celebrating holidays and birthdays together. That's when he was his happiest. He will be missed by all for his larger than life personality and sense of humor, but most all for his kind, generous, and loving spirit.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2026 from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster Street, Melrose. A Mass Of Christian Burial will held on Thursday, July 2, 2026 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary's Church, Herbert Street, Melrose. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, 230 Playstead Road, Medford.
