Anthony S. Diomede of Melrose, MA., formerly of Dorchester, MA. and West Roxbury, MA., passed away peacefully at Melrose Wakefield Hospital on September 3, 2024, at the age of 90.

He was the son of Anthony S. Diomede Sr. and Enes Fanny Falcione, beloved husband of Maryalyce (McGahan) Diomede, loving father of Peter Diomede and his wife Tina of Westwood, MA, Gary Diomede and his wife Lotte of Sudbury, MA and Blanche Ezepik and her husband John of Hudson, MA. Loving brother of the late Gloria Pertot, the late Michael Landolfi, the late Jean Degrout and Lucille Lonergan. Grandfather of Nicholas, Ryan , Annabelle, Lindsey and Bobby.

Tony was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the Korean War. After the war, Tony served proudly in the naval reserves for 30 years, retiring in 1994. Tony graduated from Dorchester High School. After spending a short time as an ironworker in the Charlestown Navy Yard, he attended Suffolk University and holds a Bachelor Of Science degree in Mathematics. After graduation, he spent his entire thirty-six-year career dedicated to federal service, working for the U.S Department Of Defense. While working for the Navy Ship Systems Command, he became chief of numerical control for numerous naval shipyards. He continued in government employment and became team leader for the Defense Contractor Agency, reviewing the computer acquisitions for prime defense contractors. He was the proud recipient of the Honors Award from The Numerical Control Society as Chief Programmer and made a substantial contribution to the Apollo 11 flight and Lunar Excursion Module. He retired from the Department f Defense in 1995.

Tony enjoyed singing and golfing in Florida with his wife Maryalyce. He was also a starter at Middleton Golf Course for 22 years after retirement.

Services will be private, and a celebration of life will be scheduled for a later date.
