Obituary

Anthony E. Maffie died suddenly at his home in Melrose on April 3rd, he was 80. Anthony was born and raised in East Boston, graduated from East Boston High School and served in the US Army during WWII. He worked as a radioman at the New England Telephone Company in Boston for over 40 years. Mr. Maffie has been a resident of Melrose since 1967 and was a member of Most Blessed Sacrament Church in Wakefield. Anthony was the husband of Barbara A. (Nevins) Maffie. Father of Patricia Racki & her husband Steven of Reading, Susan Berggren & her husband Robert of Wakefield, Ellen Hardy & her husband Thomas of Marshfield and Paul Maffie & his wife Melissa of Melrose. Brother of Mary Gilbert of Carver & Rita Marroni of Reading. Grandfather of Jillian, Kara, James, Rachel, Amy, Christopher, Leah & Daniel. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Thurs. April 7th at 9AM. Funeral Mass in The Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St. Wakefield, at 10AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-8PM. Burial in Puritan Lawn Cemetery in Peabody. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St. Framingham 01701.
