Anthony J. Pagano passed away at his home in Melrose on May 13, 2008. He was 86 years of age. Born in Everett to the late Antonio & Catherine (Malta) Pagano, he was raised in Everett and graduated from Everett High School. Mr. Pagano continued to educate himself throughout his life taking numerous courses at local colleges including Harvard University. He lived in Everett for 54 years and Melrose since 1976. Anthony worked as a metallurgist at the Watertown Arsenal for several years before starting his own business. He owned and operated A.J. Pagano Upholstery Business on Charles St. in Malden and then Eastern Ave in Malden for 60 years. Mr. Pagano was a talented interior decorator, painter, artist, historian and writer. Anthony wrote three books on the history of Melrose and one on the history of the Crane Family in Ipswich. He was a kind, gentle and caring person who was very involved in the Melrose community. Anthony was past president of AARP & Go Go Seniors, helped start and was president of the Melrose Historical Museum, a member of the K of C, Melrose Historical Society, St. Mary's Church and a former member of the Holy Name Society at church. Mr. Pagano was the beloved husband of 64 years to Mary T. (Ciccarelli) Pagano. Father of Arthur Pagano & his wife Connie of GA. Brother of Joseph and Concetta "Tina" Pagano both of Everett and the late Frank Pagano. Grandfather of Jeffrey Pagano of GA. Great grandfather of Anthony, Alex & Andrew Pagano. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Friday May 16th at 11AM. Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, Herbert St. Melrose at 11:30AM. Relatives & friends invited.
