Anthony "Tony" Serino Jr., of Melrose, died on December 8, 2015 at the age of 72. Tony was born in Revere, MA on June 19, 1943 to Anthony and Mildred (Elefson) Serino. He was raised in Melrose and attended Melrose High School. Tony left high school to join the United States Navy in April of 1962. He honorably served in the Navy for two years aboard the USS Wasp Aircraft Carrier and during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Several years after being discharged from the Navy, Tony married the love of his life, Nancy (Kenney) Serino, in 1967. The two spent 48 years happily married and raised their family together in Melrose. Tony loved his family and was happiest with them. In the summertime they would travel to Lake Winnipesaukee where they made many unforgettable memories. Tony and Nancy also loved to entertain and had many holiday and family parties at their home on Vinton Street over the years. He was a great cook; his specialty was his homemade pizza. In addition to his family, Tony loved cars. He was especially into the 1950's Hot Rods. He also owned a red convertible Mustang which he always kept in pristine condition. He had many friends he stayed in touch with and would get together frequently to play poker. Tony was a great man who loved his family to no end; he will be greatly missed by them all. Anthony was the beloved husband of Nancy (Kenney) Serino of Stoneham, formerly of Melrose. Loving father of Sheri (Serino) Alba & her husband James of Stoneham, Lauren Serino of Melrose, and the late Anthony "Tony" Serino. Proud grandfather of Jason. Caring brother to the late Sam Serino. Loving uncle of Tracy (Serino) Hinchey. He is also survived by many extended relatives and close friends. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 10, 2015 from 4-8 PM at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 11, 2015 at 11 AM at the Trinity Episcopal Church, 131 W. Emerson St., Melrose. Interment with Military Honors at Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
