Antonietta R. "Ann" (Fiorillo) Gilmore, of Melrose, died at the Epoch Senior Healthcare in Melrose on Nov. 12, 2007 at the age of 95.
Ann was born in the North End, raised in East Boston and a graduate of Girls High School in Boston. She lived in Brookline for 25 years and the past 29 years in Melrose.
Ann was a member of St. Mary's Church in Melrose & the Ladies Sodality for many years and always had a great sense of humor. She loved to travel to Cuba, Bermuda, Canada and Florida. Ann enjoyed skiing, reading, the theatre, the Boston Red Sox and her many hats.
She was the coordinator for many years for the "200 Club" at the Jonathan Cochrane House in Melrose. Ann worked as a purchasing agent for the government during WWII at the army base in South Boston and for John Hancock Insurance Company in Boston until her retirement in 1977 at the age of 65.
She was the beloved wife of the late George Gilmore. Loving daughter of the late Orazio & Marianna (D'Elia) Fiorillo. Caring sister of the late William, James, Frank, Michael and Salvatore Fiorillo, Laura Barrasso, Immaculata Vaccaro, Mary Fischer and Josephine Fiorillo. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces & nephews and many friends in the Melrose area.
Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Friday Nov. 16th at 9AM. Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, Herbert St., Melrose at 10AM. Relatives & friends invited. Visiting hours on Thursday from 4-8PM. Burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
