Arnold G. Barchard passed away at his home in Melrose, on July 31, 2007. He was 78. Arnold was born and raised in Malden, attended Malden Schools, lived most of his life in Malden and the past 38 years in Melrose. Mr. Barchard worked as a bus driver for the MBTA for 25 years, retiring in 1988. He worked at Dudley Station for few years and was well known along the bus routes in Medford, Malden & Melrose. Arnold was a member of the Carmens Union #589 in Boston, loved photography, Red Sox, Patriots, cars, watching golf on TV and was an avid reader. Mr Barchard was the former husband of Ellen J. (Bowie). Father of Linda L. Batcheller of NH, Kenneth W. Barchard of FL and the late Stephanie Jane Morrison. Grandfather of Colleen Hamilton & Carrie Batcheller-Jacques. Great grandfather of Stephanie Jane, Abigail Rose & Emma J. Brother of his late twin Arthur & the late Betty, Harold, Winifred & Earl. Also survived by many nieces & nephews. Visiting hours will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Monday, Aug. 6th, from 5-8PM. Relatives & friends invited. Funeral services will be private.
