Arthur E. Hayes passed away at Epoch Senior Healthcare in Melrose on July 31st at the age of 83. He was born and raised in Watertown, graduated from St. Patrick High School in Watertown and has been a resident of Melrose for the past 47 years. He worked for Schrafts Candy for 10 years and Melrose-Wakefield Hospital in security for 12 years. Arthur was a longtime communicant at St. Marys Church in Melrose, a member of the Knights of Columbus & the Melrose Elks.He was the husband of Georgette (Nickerson) Cavanaugh Hayes and the late Constance (Harson) Hayes. Stepfather of Georgette Curran of Melrose, Kathleen Donovan of Melrose, Thomas Cavanaugh of CA, and Cynthia Boyle of Saugus. Brother of the late Leonard F. Hayes. Also survived by 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Tuesday, Aug 3rd at 10 AM. Funeral Mass in St Marys Church, corner of Myrtle & Herbert Sts. Melrose, at 11AM. Relatives and friends invited. There are no visiting hours. Burial will be in Wyoming Cemetery Visitation: None None
