Arthur R. Mongeau, of Melrose, died at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital on Feb. 23, 2005 at the age of 90. Arthur was born & raised in Malden and was a graduate of Malden High School Class of 1932. He went on to earn his business degree from Burdett College in Boston in 1934. Arthur was a WWII Army Veteran and worked as a Postal Manager for the U.S. Post Office until he retired with 40 years of service. He was a member of St. Marys Church in Melrose and a Treasurer for the Knights of Columbus in both Melrose & Malden for many years. Arthur was the beloved husband of Iris M. (Perry) Mongeau for 63 years. Loving father of Eileen Hinchey of Melrose, Jeanne Barthelmes of Peabody, Rita Moore of Melrose, Richard Mongeau of Wellesley, Stephen Mongeau of Chelmsford, David Mongeau of Ohio, Peter Mongeau of Melrose and the late Katherine Kelly. Devoted brother of Louise Holmgren of Malden and the late Eleanor Willus. Also survived by 24 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and many nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Saturday Feb. 26th at 9:30AM. Funeral Mass in St. Marys Church, Herbert St., Melrose at 10:30AM. Relatives & friends invited.
