Barbara F. DiFronzo, 89, of Melrose, formerly of Somerville, MA, passed away on October 12, 2023.

Barbara was born on November 28, 1933, to Mary and Carl Swanson of Somerville, MA. She graduated from St. Joseph's High School where she made lifelong friends.

Barbara worked at Jordan Marsh for many years and then went back to school to become a Drafter. She finished her career visiting the elderly with Mystic Valley Elder Services.

Barbara was a passionate reader, jigsaw puzzler, and poet. When she was not filling her home with warmth and kindness, Barbara could be found singing in her church choir. She was the foundation of our family. We will miss her greatly.

Barbara was the beloved wife of Michael DiFronzo, predeceased by her brother, George Swanson and survived by her sister, Virginia McNamara. She was the loving mother of Gerard and wife, Lisa Sullivan, her daughter, Maureen and husband, John Rapsomanikis, proud grandmother of Matthew Sullivan and his wife, Ashley, Aaron Sullivan and his fiancée, Kaylan, Victoria Oliveira, AnnaMaria Rapsomanikis and her fiancée Steven, Christina, Andrew and Nicholas Rapsomanikis, and great-grandmother of Bowen Sullivan.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 from 4:00 to 8:00PM at Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose, MA. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at 10:30AM, at St. Mary's Church, 4 Herbert St., Melrose, MA. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden. Relatives & Friend's respectfully invited to attend.
