Barbara A. Martel, 93, formerly of Vero Palm Estates, Vero Beach, FL, died Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at Pruitt Health Care in New Bern. She was born December 7, 1921 in Windsor, VT, daughter of the late Edward Earl Holden, Sr. and Willa Dale Stickney Holden and was preceded in death by her husband, Henry W. Martel.She is survived by a son, Ronald Martel and wife, Charlene of Aiken, SC; two daughters, Dale Perrine and her husband, Dale of New Bern, and Deborah Crimins and husband, Neil of Meredith, NH; sister, Eloise G. Howard of Murphy, NC, and the late Edward E. Holden Jr., Sun City, AZ. 8 grandchildren, Kristi (Luke), Kate (Dan), Bill (Amber), Ben (Hilary), Nicole, John, Neil, Jr. and Jonathan; and 4 great-grandchildren, Maggie, Reagan, Haley and Caleb. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 5, 2015 from 4-8 PM at the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose. A Funeral Service will take place on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at 10:30 AM at the Gately Funeral Home. Interment at Wyoming Cemetery, 205 Sylvan St., Melrose.
