Barbara A. (Greelish) O'Brien, of Humarock, formerly of Melrose, died at her home surrounded by her family on June 13, 2014 at the age of 83. Barbara was born & raised in Melrose and a graduate of St. Mary's Grammar & High School. She went on to earn her Nursing degree from Emerson Hospital School of Nursing in Concord. Barbara worked as a Nurse for the Middlesex Fells Nursing Home in Melrose for over 25 years before her retirement. She resided in Melrose for most of her life and the past 24 years in Humarock. Barbara enjoyed playing bingo, Irish music and cooking for her family, friends & neighbors. She loved to spend her time at the beach in Humarock with her children, grandchildren & great grandchildren. Barbara was an avid Boston Red Sox & Bruins fan and was very dedicated to her family and many friends. She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas G. O'Brien for 59 years. Loving mother of Michael O'Brien & his wife Joyce of Melrose, Joseph O'Brien & his wife Hia of Mississippi, Barbara Blundell & her companion John McDonough of Salem, NH and Colleen Hall & her husband Robert of Melrose. Cherished Nana of Kerri-Ann, Sharon, Michael Jr., Toan, Jane, Joseph, Daniel, Nicole, Erica, Elizabeth and Devyn. Loving Great Nana of Trevor, Davianna, Felicia, Grace, Ciara, Peytan, Cole, Aiden, Summer and Delia. Caring sister of Jack Greelish of Saugus, James Greelish of NH, Kevin Greelish of Topsfield and the late Mary Foley, Joseph Greelish, Thomas Greelish and Eileen Butt. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Thursday June 19th at 8AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church, Herbert St. Melrose at 9AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Wednesday from 4:00-8:00PM. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
