Barbara L. (Killam) Whittier died suddenly at Cambridge Hospital in Cambridge Sept. 29th at the age of 71. She was born in Cambridge, raised in Somerville, graduated from Somerville High School, lived in Melrose for 36yrs and the past 10yrs in West Harwich. Barbara worked as a bookkeeper for many years at several companies in the Melrose area. She was an avid seamstress, enjoyed making clothes for herself and her family and was a member of Merrimack Valley Kennel Club. Barbara was the wife of Lawrence P. 'Pete' Whittier. Mother of Nancy M. Padulsky & her husband Steve of Gloucester, Larry Whittier & his wife Dottie of Reading and Lorraine J. King & her husband Andy of Wilmington. Grandmother of Joseph Lovejoy, Brianna Lovejoy, Andrew Whittier, Danny Whittier and Taryn King. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Thurs. Oct. 3rd at 8AM. Funeral mass in St. Mary's Church Herbert St. Melrose at 9AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Wed. 4-8PM.
