Bernice M. (Ladanyi) Chambers, of Stoneham, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2021 at the age of 87. She was the beloved wife of the late John Chambers. Loving mother of the late Bobby Chambers. Sister of Brenda LaDanyi of Melrose, Robert Ladanyi & his wife Katherine of Magnolia, and the late Barbara Amato. Aunt of Michael Amato, Richard Trevisone, Ronald Trevisone, Rhonda Bennett, Jill Fabio, Michele Ladanyi, Greg Ladanyi, and Kristin Ladanyi. Also survived by several grand nieces and nephews. Bernice was born in Brooklyn, New York on April 18, 1934 to the late William and Irene (Houle) Ladanyi. Her family eventually moved to East Somerville, where she was raised and graduated from Somerville High School. Bernice enjoyed all the New England sports teams and in later years included world tennis as a favorite. She worked as a secretary at the Schrafft Center in Charlestown for many years. Bernice and her late husband Jack settled in Arlington to raise their son, living there for over fifty years. For many years Bernice and Jack vacationed in a variety of places. There are pictures of trips to Vermont, Florida, California, France and many other places. Colorado was where her son Bobby finally made his home. Bernice and Jack traveled often to Aspen to see Bobby. Visiting Hours will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose, on Sunday, January 9th, 2022 from 2:00-4:00 PM. A Funeral Service will take place at the funeral home at 4:00 PM immediately following the visitation. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
