Brendan J. Cogavin passed away suddenly in Boston, on December 8, 2010. He was 54 years of age. Brendan was born in County Galway, Ireland on April 25, 1956 to the late Edward & Margaret (Hogarty) Cogavin. He was raised in Ireland, moved to the United States in 1972 and graduated from Medford High School. Brendan lived in Medford, Somerville, Stoneham and the past 12 years in Malden. He was a self employed electrician, owned & operated Brendan Cogavin Electrical for the past 35 years and worked in the greater Boston area. Brendan was a hard worker and a dedicated family man. He was the husband of Bernadette (Ryan) Cogavin. Father of Dennis M. Cogavin of Wakefield, Brendan Brian Cogavin of Stoneham, Noel Patrick Cogavin, Kelly B. Cogavin and Mary T. Cogavin all of Malden. Brother of Bernard Cogavin, Nancy McCarthy, Edward Cogavin, Lillian Laffan, Marie McManus, Thomas Cogavin, Denis Cogavin and the late Margaret Galvin. Also survived by numerous nieces & nephews. A Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Monday, Dec. 13th at 8:45AM. A Funeral Mass to celebrate the life of Brendan will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford, at 10AM. Relatives & friends invited. Visiting hours Sunday 2-6Pm.
