Obituary

Bryan Bourque, of Melrose, died unexpectedly on March 8th in Cambridge, MA. He was born on Thanksgiving Day, November 14th, 1974, at Winchester Hospital. He was the loving son of Bruce and Lydia (Kinney) Bourque. He was the brother of the late Christopher Bourque of Melrose, MA. He was brother to Matthew Bourque and his wife Amy (DiLullo) of Melrose, MA, also brother to Justin Bourque and his wife Julie (Samaniego) of Imperial, CA. He was the nephew of Yvette (Burke) and William Drinkwater from Wakefield, MA., And Cynthia (Burke) and John Barbati of Melrose, MA. He was a cousin of Brett and Courtney Barbati of Lynn, MA. Also, Ian and Samantha Drinkwater from Woburn, MA. And Alan and Emily Drinkwater from Wakefield, MA. He was the uncle of Alexandra Lloyd and Aaron Bourque.

He was a graduate of Melrose High School, class of 1993. While in high school, he excelled in languages Italian, Spanish, and French. He travelled to Germany as an exchange student while in high school. After high school he traveled extensively throughout Europe exploring and utilizing his language skills. He also attended Bunker Hill Community College.

Bryan was a musician. In his younger years, he played guitar. He was in a band with some fellow Melrose friends playing locally at venues such as Edible Rex, The Rockpile, The Rat & TT the Bear’s.

Bryan spent most of his career in hospitality as a sales manager for Marriott Hotels. He was a lover of animals, particularly his cats Sampson & Jake. He was kind and caring to all.

Bryan loved visiting his Nana and Papa in Nova Scotia, along with relatives and friends that he made over the years. He acquired his love of cooking from both his grandmothers. He loved cooking and was an excellent cook. His Italian red sauce was always a hit, and he was very proud of his apple pie, as well as his amazing Giardelli brownies.

Visiting Hours will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 19th, 2026, at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 20th, 2026, at the Incarnation Church, 425 Upham St., Melrose. Burial to follow the mass at Wyoming Cemetery, 205 Sylvan St., Melrose. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
