Caesar A. Bertelli, 99, of Liverpool, NY, passed away on Monday May 30, 2011 at St. Joseph's Hospital. He was 99 years of age. Born in Somerville, MA, Caesar worked at the Boston Naval Shipyard for many years until its closing. He was then employed at Tufts Medical Center in Boston where he was an electrical facilities supervisor until his retirement. He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Melrose, MA before relocating to Liverpool in 2004. He then was a faithful communicant of St. Stephen's Church in Phoenix, NY. Caesar served as a Sergeant in the 110th Calvary Division of the Massachusetts National Guard, and was an avid floral gardener and Boston Red Sox fan. He is predeceased by his wife, Catherine Hess Bertelli in 1980; sisters, Natalie Thornton, Ada Nazarian; and his brother William Bertelli. Caesar is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Catherine (Michael) DiLorenzo of Phoenix, NY; brother, Bruno Bertelli of Denmark, ME; granddaughter, Christina (Matthew) Nunziato of Rensselaer, NY; grandson, Michael Patrick DiLorenzo of Phoenix, NY; many nieces and nephews. A Funeral service will be held at Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Saturday, June 11th at 11:00AM. Family and friends are invited to attend. Visitation prior to the service on Saturday morning from 10:00-11:00AM. Interment at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose will follow.
