Carl L. Harris passed away at Winchester Hospital on Feb. 28th at the age of 83. Carl was born and raised in Melrose, graduated from Melrose High School and has been a lifelong resident. Mr. Harris entered the Marine Corps after graduating from high school and was a WWII Marine Corps Veteran. After returning from WWII, he joined the Melrose Fire Department in 1951. Carl retired as a Captain on the Melrose Fire Dept. after 35 years of service. Mr. Harris enjoyed working on electronics, was a dedicated husband & father and was a member of the Melrose Elks and the VFW Harold OYoung Post # 2394 in Melrose. Carl was the husband of Pauline M. (Campbell) Harris. Father of Robert J. Harris & his wife Pamela of Saugus and James M. Harris of Melrose. Brother of the late William F. Harris. Grandfather of Jackie Harris of Saugus. Visiting hours at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Thurs. March 3rd from 4-8PM. Relatives and friends invited. Funeral services & burial will be private.
