Carmella 'Millie' (Stoico) Bernabei died at home on Thursday August 7th at the age of 85. She was born in Italy, came to the US at the age of 12 and was raised in the North End. She lived in East Boston for many years, Medford for 30 years and the past 30 years in Melrose. Millie was a homemaker and had previously worked as a seamstress at Trimont Clothing in Cambridge for a few years. Carmella enjoyed cooking, gardening and crocheting. She was the wife of the late Frank Bernabei. Mother of Marie F. Hickey of Reading, Carol Johnson of Arlington, Frank Bernabei Jr. of Burlington and Robert J. Bernabei of Melrose. Grandmother of Phillip Johnson, Rebecca Lombardi, Jason, David & Michael Bernabei. Great grandmother of Leah Lombardi. Aunt of Lillian Roach of Springfield as well as many other nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Monday August 11th at 9AM. Funeral mass in St. Mary's Church, Herbert St. Melrose, at 10AM. Relatives and friends invited.
