Carmella E. (Delafano) Ellie Reggio of Melrose, died October 11, 2007. She was 89 years old. Born in Revere on May 1, 1918 to the late John & Matilda (Caporale) Delafano, she was raised in Revere and attended Revere Schools. Ellie worked as a seamstress with G & L Manufacturing for a few years but her joy was being at home and raising her three daughters. She enjoyed reading, watching the Catholic News Channel and traveling. Mrs. Reggio was very religious and spiritual. She was well loved, admired and an inspiration to all who knew her. Carmella was the devoted wife of the late Arthur F. Reggio, with whom she shared 45 years of marriage. The loving mother of Anne Marie Yard & her late husband Ronald, Paula Federico & her husband Frank of AZ & Joan Nigro of Melrose. Mother-in-law of Eugene Nigro. Cherished grandmother of John & Joseph Federico & Michael Nigro. Caring sister of the late Louis Delafano & Angela Thompson. Also survived by many nieces who were like daughters to Ellie, nephews, cousins and her beloved dog Blue. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Wed. Oct. 17th at 8AM. Funeral Mass in St. Marys Church, Herbert St., Melrose at 9AM. Family & friends invited. Visiting hours Tues. from 4-8PM. Interment in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden will be private.
