Carmella R. Visco passed away at her home, in Saugus, on October 5, 2006, she was 85. Carmella was born and raised in East Boston, graduated from East Boston High School, Suffolk University, Boston College with her Masters in English, Simmons College and University of Florida with her PHD in English. Miss Visco taught English at Saugus Junior High School for 17 years and has been a Saugus resident for the past 45 years. Carmella was an accomplished writer, she enjoyed writing childrens books and had several books published all over the country. She was still currently writing, even during her illness. Miss Visco was a former member of the Saugus Teachers & Massachusetts Teachers Associations, was a current member of the Ipswich Country Club, was a longtime member of Incarnation Church in Melrose and enjoyed crocheting & knitting. Daughter of the late Hugh & Rose (Sacco) Visco. Sister of Susan J. Visco of Saugus and the late Nancy Visco. Friend of Janice Bowering of Nahant. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Tues. Oct. 10th, at 9AM. Funeral Mass in The Church of the Incarnation, 425 Upham St. Melrose, at 10AM. Relatives & friends invited. Visiting Hours Monday 4-8PM.
